REUPLOADED: 1969 – Live at Belgium

27 October 1969 – Amougies Festival

Bootlegs of Yes in their original formation are rare and few. This is one of those.

First, with the exception of "Then", they only play covers, including the rarely played "It's Love" from The Rascals which extensively features Chris Squire on vocals and bass (there is a version from Yes Album tour on the box The Word Is Live).

The show has the only live version I know of I See You, containing Pater Banks' long guitar solo that has been so much commented and considered by Jon one of the reasons he was fired from the band (Jon thought the solo was too long... I don't think he could dream of “Tales” at the time...).

Of course, Yes went on to make great music, arguably better and more accomplished, but there's a wildness and freedom to their early incarnation that was never seen later.

Lastly, the usual reminder about the sound quality - the tape recorder used was way below modern standards and the sound is nowhere near "professional" quality. This reservation aside, however, this is an unbelievable document of a legendary festival!

1-No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed (Havens) (4:53)
2-Tuning problems (4:43)
3-Then (Anderson) (5:32)
4-It's Love (Cavaliere/Brigati) (14:39)
5-Everydays (Stills) (5:43)
6-I See You (McGuinn/Crosby) (14:24)
7-Something's Coming (Bernstein/Sondheim) (10:19)

BTW, do anybody knows what a hell happened with the site http://www.forgottenyesterdays.com/?
It seems to be over, or at least hidden in the web. If somebody knows anything about this, please let us know...

I've read in a forum that the site's host is having some problems that will be fixed soon. Some time passed, it wasn't fixed till now, but someday it will be.

In this same forum I saw a link to a "copy" of that site which is still available, though it has some problems:

HELLO!! ive left some comments on some of the shows posted here, but this one is for a very HUGE THANK YOU for this AMAZING blog!!! ive grown up listening to Yes. im 38, so the band is only a few years older than me; ive had them my whole life!!! anyways, ive only had access to a few vinyl bootlegs and a couple FM simulcast tapes over the years. ive never had much of a non-punk rock tape collection, so i could never trade for these...THANK YOU!!! i like Live yes stuff so much more than the 'proper' studio releases, and this site here is INCREDIBLE!!! i have 2 live shows in my collection you dont have ( JFK Stadium 1976, and NYC 1980 ); both are audience recordings. the 1976 one is horrible quality, and the 1980 is real clear audience; pretty good sound. maybee i can send these to you someday...

anyways, THANKS AGAIN!!! always looking for more Yes Live Shows!!!

Thanks for the appreciation. This last week, I was travelling, so I couldn't post anything, nor prepare something... This month may have fewer shows but we'll keep on...
I've been trying to find a recording of Chris Squire, Alan White and Keith Emerson playing in the recent Zeppelin reunion concert, but could not find it... If someone can help me, I'd love to hear/watch this, and also share here...

The JFK Stadium show from 76 I don't have, and I'm interested in it... if you can, try to upload it on sharebee (first you should zip the folder, in an archive up to 100Mb)
The one in NYC, 80, I downloaded recently, but didn't hear yet.
